DESCRIPTION:Pharmaceutical residues in the Baltic Sea are causing concern as the full impact for the marine environment is still unknown. To reduce emissions\, measures are needed on both national and regional level. SUMMARY:IWAMA Water Forum
DESCRIPTION:The Water Forum aims to bring together representatives of various spheres in the water sector: from technologists to decision-makers. \nThe Forum will bring together IWAMA partners and cooperating stakeholders\, representatives of the member cities of the Union of the Baltic Cities\, and all interested guests\, to discuss smart water management. \nThe Forum will start on 23 October with a study visit to the Växjö wastewater treatment facility. Participants will have an opportunity to learn the technologies used on the plant and directly discuss their application with representatives from the WWTP. \nFurther\, the event will continue on 24 October with the presentation of the Baltic Smart Water Hub and its major features with particular cases illustrating solutions for the four key water areas of the Hub platform: waste- and storm water management\, fresh water solutions and management of coastal areas across the borders. Participants of the Water Forum will have a chance to test the Hub features and provide feedback to ensure that the platform is relevant and useful for its varied target audience – the water sector specialists. \nThe last part of the Forum programme will be organized as a session back to back with the UBC General Conference. DESCRIPTION:From 17. – 20. September 2017 IWA Specialist Group on Assessment and Control of Hazardous Substances in Water (ACHSW) invites to the “Micropol & Ecohazard Conference”. The conference is organized by University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna (BOKU) in cooperation with Technical University Vienna (TU). \nThe conference covers amongst others\, the topics micropollutant sources\, technical assessment and removal\, and implications for water suppliers and wastewater plant operators. Workshops will focus on endocrine disruptors\, antibiotics resistance and management options for operators.
